Description:
The Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to its MBA and other postgraduate management programs. SNAP is one of the most popular entrance exams for MBA aspirants in India, especially those looking to join one of the 16 Symbiosis institutes across the country.
Key Features of SNAP:
- Purpose: Admission to MBA and PGDM programs offered by Symbiosis institutes, including top institutes like Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune; Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD); and others.
- Eligibility:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
- Final-year students can also apply, provided they complete their degree with the required percentage before the commencement of the course.
- Mode: SNAP is conducted as a computer-based test (CBT).
Exam Structure (2023):
- Duration: 1 hour (60 minutes).

- Analytical & Logical Reasoning (A-LR): Includes logical reasoning, critical reasoning, and visual reasoning.

- Marking Scheme:
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- There is a negative marking of -0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
Selection Process:
- SNAP Score: Your SNAP score is used as the first filter in the selection process.
- Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interaction (PI), and Writing Ability Test (WAT): Shortlisted candidates are called for GE, PI, and WAT rounds based on their SNAP scores. The final selection is made based on the candidate’s performance in all of these components, including SNAP scores.
Preparation Strategy:
- General English (GE): Focus on vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, and sentence correction. Regular reading of newspapers and practice with comprehension exercises help improve this section.
- Analytical & Logical Reasoning (A-LR): Practice reasoning puzzles, critical reasoning, seating arrangements, and data analysis problems. Logical reasoning books and mock tests are useful.
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA-DI & DS): Revise important mathematical concepts from the 10th and 12th standards, like arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. Practice data interpretation and data sufficiency questions regularly.
