The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level management entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT scores are used for admission to MBA and other management programs at more than 600 business schools across India. It is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams, offering flexibility in terms of exam mode and frequency.

Exam Structure:
MAT is designed to assess general aptitude and consists of five sections:
- Language Comprehension:

- Data Analysis and Sufficiency:

Marking Scheme:
- Total Number of Questions: 150 questions (30 questions in each section).
- Scoring: Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours).
Scoring and Percentile:
- Total Score: The composite score is calculated out of 800, excluding the Indian and Global Environment sections.
- Percentile: Candidates are also given percentile rankings that compare their performance with other test-takers.
Test Availability:
- Frequency: MAT is conducted four times a year—usually in February, May, September, and December—giving candidates multiple opportunities to take the exam.
- Cost: The registration fee for MAT is usually around ₹2,100 for one mode (PBT or CBT) and ₹3,600 for two modes (PBT+CBT or IBT+PBT or IBT+CBT).
Selection Process:
- MAT Score: Institutes use the MAT score to shortlist candidates for further rounds.
- Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and/or Written Ability Test (WAT): Shortlisted candidates are invited to these rounds, depending on the institute’s admission process.
- Final Selection: Based on a composite score of MAT performance, GD/PI/WAT, academic records, and work experience.
