Description:
The NMAT (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Management Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). NMAT is primarily used for admissions to MBA and other management programs at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and several other prestigious business schools in India and abroad.
Key Features of NMAT :
- Purpose: Admission to MBA and PGDM programs at NMIMS and other participating business schools like Xavier School of Management (XLRI), SPJIMR (for PGMPW), K J Somaiya, and international institutions such as the University of South Africa.
- Eligibility:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Final-year students can also apply, provided they complete their degree with the required percentage before the commencement of the course.
- Mode: NMAT is a computer-based test (CBT) that can be taken at test centers or online and proctored from home.
- Flexible Testing: Candidates can take the exam up to three times within the testing window, with the best score considered for admission.

Unique Features:
- Testing Window: NMAT is conducted over a testing window of about 55 – 75 days, typically from October to December. Candidates can choose their exam date, time, and location based on availability.
- Re-takes and Re-scheduling: Candidates can take the NMAT exam up to three times, and the best score out of these attempts is considered. Additionally, they can reschedule their exam if needed, adding flexibility to the process.
- Scaled Scores: NMAT scores are scaled to account for variations in difficulty across different sets of question papers. Scores range from 36 to 360, with each section scored between 12 and 120.
Selection Process:
- NMAT Score: Your NMAT score is used as the initial filter for shortlisting candidates.
- NMIMS Competency Assessment Test, Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates are called for further rounds, including Assessment Test, PI, or depending on the specific business school’s admission process.
- Final Selection: Based on a composite score of NMAT performance, Assessment Test & PI, Academic records, and Work experience.
